Meet Your Coaches

Carl

Carl Acosta, one of Camp Southwoods’ directors, is a big part of the creation of Southwoods Soccer Academy.

He’s played his whole life as a forward and attacking midfielder and loves the sport, frequently joining in on staff games and drills throughout the summer.

  • D1 Forward at Cal (UC Berkeley) 2001-2004
  • 1st Team All Pac-10 (2003)
  • 2nd Team All Region - West (2003)
  • Offensive MVP and Leading Scorer 5x N-California AYSO State Champion
  • Far West Regional AYSO Champion

He’s from California, now lives in Maine and supports Barcelona.

Carl is looking forward to having a week of soccer focus with our kids and expanding the culture around the sport at Southwoods.

Jason

Jason is our Athletics Director and one of our head coaches. He has meticulopusly planned the program and oversees all players progress.

He coached the Southwoods team to a victorious 6-2 season in 2025 alongside Rodolfo and Armando.

He’s played soccer for 20 years as a winger/midfielder.

He’s from Scotland and supports Celtic and Liverpool.

He’s looking forward to seeing the campers live day-to-day like footballers for the week.

Rodolfo

Rodolfo is one of our head coaches. He is a highly decorated player including

  • Championship-Prodefut tournament 2015-2016
  • Pumas academy tournament 2015-2016
  • Striker of the year Pumas academy 2015-2016
  • Championship National league Scotiabank 2017
  • Best player and best athlete of the year University Anahuac 2025

He’s played soccer for 13 years as a midfielder and defender. He’s from Mexico and supports Pumas UNAM and Barcelona.

He’s looking forward to coaching all day and teaching the lessons of soccer like discipline and teamwork.

Dominik

Dominik is one of our coaches. He’s played for 12 years as a goalkeeper, including most recently for Hungary’s national team.

In his high school soccer championship, he was named the best goalkeeper in Hungary, followed by becoming a U17 champions with the city team.

He is from Hungary and supports Barcelona and Manchester United.

He’s looking forward to everyone improving their skills while having a good time.

Armando

Armando is one of our coaches. Armando has played soccer for his whole life as a striker, enjoying everything from a casual game with friends to leading his staff team to victory here at camp.

He’s from Mexico and supports ⁠⁠Paris Saint Germain and Pumas UNAM.

He’s looking forward to building relationships with each of the the players he coaches.

We will provide your gameday jersey. You must bring cleats, shin guards, slides and black athletic shorts for your gameday uniform. Consult the packing list for a complete list of items to bring.
