No matter what your camper loves, we have something for them at Southwoods. With extensive activity selections in athletics, arts, aquatics, and adventure, every camper has the opportunity to discover new passions, go outside their comfort zone, and do their favorite thing in their favorite place.
With our location in the heart of the Adirondacks, Southwoods is arms reach to some of the country's best outdoor recreation sites. Countless miles of river to canoe, New York’s high peaks to explore, and craggy granite prime for climbing, there is no shortage of wilderness adventures our campers can choose from. Our team of experienced and certified guides lead all our expeditions in-house, so we have the flexibility to work around the weather's many moods. It’s our life’s work to provide experiences that encourage kids to fall in love with the outdoors.
For the camper who loves sports, Southwoods offers a variety of individual, team, traditional, and nontraditional options on our meticulously maintained facilities. Every activity is a combination of focused skill building combined with games. While we play hard and encourage healthy competition, teamwork and sportsmanship are the real hallmarks of our program. We have exciting intra-camp leagues and opportunities to play inter-camps with other area camps.
Our indoor facilities include a spectacular sports pavilion with an NBA sized indoor basketball court and workout room, cycling facility, and yoga space. Our covered gymnastics pavilion is fully-equipped and staffed with trained gymnasts. Our outdoor facilities include a high school size outdoor basketball court, collegiate-level fields for baseball, softball, a hockey rink, and even a track. Campers can play on both clay and paved tennis courts, our two gaga pits, sand volleyball, the list goes on!
Ask anybody who has visited Southwoods and they all say the same thing: Southwoods’ waterfront is the best part of camp. With private access to Paradox Lake, Southwoods campers enjoy not only our amazing swim area, but access to boating activities too. With the lake being at the forefront of their camp experience, we make sure our campers spend as much time down there as possible! Every day we have swim and at least 2 additional periods of waterfront activities to get them out of the heat and into the lake.
From visual to performing arts, we make sure there are numerous opportunities for campers to express their artistic side at camp. Southwoods visual arts center has its own kiln for ceramics and a fully equipped woodshop. Performing arts branches out between the dance studio, main theater space where interested campers can participate in one of our productions, and even circus arts on the trapeze! And for the blooming foodie, our CSW camper kitchen teaches our campers easy, delicious recipes they can try in their kitchen at home. With so many options, there is something for every camper to enjoy.
